Latest pond photo.

Latest pond photo 22Septemper 2013. I change some set up for my filtration system at my pond.

What is Aquaponics?

What is Aquaponics?

Aquaponics is a synergistic growing technique in which fish and plants are grown together in the same systems. The fish waste feeds the growing plants using organic hydroponic techniques. The plants, in turn, clean and filter the water that returns to the fish environment.

First plant using aquaponic system.

This is the first plant that I going to put in my newly set up aquaponic system.

鱼菜共生系统。Aquaponic

I going to set up a aquaponic system at my house. This system using my koi pond water
to grow plants and vegetable. Hope this will give me a good organic vegetables for long term.

2 new Yamabuki Ogon at October 2011

Ogon koi are one of the fish favorites in a koi pond setting. Their metallic color is like glowing neon in the depths of a green pond. This type of koi is single colored but always metallic. Though each variety possesses only one metallic color, it may vary from koi to koi. A collector would always include Ogons in their pond since a collection will never be well-rounded unless even one of these varieties is present in the pond. Scientifically speaking, they are called as Cyprinus carpio. This type of koi could measure up to 36 inches long and are very peaceful in nature. They are a native of Japan and are also cultured and raised in other fish farms in Asia. For them to maintain their health and reach their potential growth size, they need at least seven hundred (700) gallons of water. They are very easy to raise and they are capable of surviving in a very tough environment.
Yamabuki Ogon – a suitable koi for those who have under-filtered ponds. Yamabuki are colored a metallic yellow that is really visible even in green waters. Just be careful when choosing one, you don’t want to purchase a very yellow color of this type since they usually form red spots that are mostly found on the head.

First Asagi at my pond.

Asagi are blue-grey in color, some have a red belly which can sometimes come up to the lateral lines and cheeks of the Koi. The scales upon the back are edged in a darker grey giving a highlight to each individual scale. It bought at September 2011. Lenght is 8 inches long.

kohaku nov09

Here is my newly keeping sakai kohaku.
now is 22cm on long.
please comment. Kohaku - a white Koi with red markings. Kohaku are white bodied Koi with red markings. Often the color is more orange than red. Ideally the color of the body is pure white like the snow on Mount Fuji. The highest grade of red is the same color as the Japanese flag. Colorations of Koi should be well defined with sharp edges and obvious distinction between the red and white body colors that do not bleed or fade into each other. Champion Kohaku Koi do not have any hues of red on the fins, below the eyes or on the mouth area. The body markings should have an artistic pattern and flow. The more "steps" there are on the body is considered as a grading factor. There should be a well defined break of color before the tail fin starts. Female Koi have a larger body mass and are valued higher than males. The body as viewed from above should be symmetrical on each side of the spine. As the body becomes thicker, the grade of the fish increases. A prize Koi will have no body deformations and flow smoothly from nose to tail.
